No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. You will receive a notification by email following your submission informing you that your work has been successfully submitted. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.

The Mission of the People’s Republic of China reserves the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate for publication, at their discretion.  Only images and text respecting the theme and quality criteria of the competition will be published.

Participants can submit a maximum of 1 essay, 3 photos, 3 works of painting or drawing and/or 1 video. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit a copy of a valid identity document. Entries submitted under multiple names or email addresses will be automatically excluded.

The deadline for submissions is 31 August 2015. Submissions received after this date will not be deemed eligible.

Eligible submissions will be judged in two phases. First, they will be peer-reviewed by other users on the website. Participants will be able to vote for more than one entry but allocate only one vote per entry. A panel of judges will select the shortlisted entries in each category (essay, photo, fine art and video) with high consideration being given to the number of votes following the close of the contest. The composition of the panel of judges will be announced during the contest.

A shortlist of 50 to 60 participants will be determined by the organizer after the closing of the Contest. Shortlisted entries will be exhibited in Brussels on the day of the award ceremony. Shortlisted participants will be notified by email as soon as the decision is made. Shortlisted participants will be invited to attend the China Unlimited Award Ceremony in Brussels and all useful information related to this event will be communicated to them by email. The final winners will be announced during that event. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The winners may be invited to take part in publicity and/or attend events. The winners’ names and countries may be published and disclosed to anyone who signs up for notifications on the China Unlimited website.

Prizes will be awarded to the 15 winners chosen by the Jury. The Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the EU reserves the right not to attribute any or all of the prizes should it judge that the nominations are not of a sufficiently high standard to meet the selection criteria. Prizes are non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives.

The prize consists of a 10-day trip to China, including return airfare, visit programme, accommodation and meals. Participants under 18 years of age may be awarded an alternative prize.

Please note that only one trip to China can be awarded per candidate. If a candidate submits entries in multiple categories, he/she will not be eligible for multiple trips to China but may be awarded an alternative second prize, in addition to the trip to China, if several of his/her entries are selected as winners. The Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the EU reserves the right to choose the alternative second prize.

The final prize cannot be sold to others. The prize (including the flight to China and the trip in China) can however be transferred or donated if the person entitled to the prize is currently base in China for professional or studying purposes (documents proving this status will be requested). The organiser reserves the final right of interpretation of this clause.

Essays, photos, artworks and videos must be original, and must not infringe or violate any law or the legal or equitable right of any person or entity; nor contain material that infringes or violates any personal property rights of others; or that constitutes libel, defamation, invasion of privacy, or an infringement of the intellectual property rights of any third person; nor be otherwise unlawful.
