Pasta has become synonymous with Italian cuisine worldwide. According to a theory, pasta was brought to Italy by Marco Polo from China during the time of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). Although there are problems with this theory, the Chinese had been making and consuming noodles as early as 3000 B.C. nevertheless.
The above picture was taken in Dali, in Yunnan Province where the pictured lady has been making noodles the traditional way for decades.
