China offers an extraordinary culture rich with traditions that are still practised today even in the country’s most modern cities such as Hong Kong.
Pictured are two children playing with their new lion masks at the Tam Kung Festival in Hong Kong.
Like Tin Hau, the Goddess of the Sea, Tam Kung or Lord Tam the Sea God as he’s also known, is revered amongst fishermen and coastal communities; however, the worship of this deity is unique to Hong Kong. The Tam Kung festival is a very colorful celebration with a procession with dragon and lion dances, acrobats and martial arts performers. It is certainly a not to be missed family event.
