Street healers (1989)

This picture was taken near the main Beijing train station during my first trip as a teenager to mainland China. These street healers provide medicinal potions and herbs to commuters, often on their way to work. I chose this picture since although this form of Chinese medicine is very old, it has gained momentum and popularity as a viable and alternative medicine amongst citizens of the EU. As I took this picture in 1989, it is also worthwhile and relevant to depict traditional life that kept going during that memorable year.
