Gate of the Orient

The 700 million USD-skyscraper “Gate of the Orient” in Suzhou was one of the largest building sites in China in 2013. Today it is the tallest building in the Suzhou metropolitan area and serves as a landmark. The form of the building clearly shows the passage of the East-West-axis in between its two towers, and thus also indicates indirectly the South-North-direction. The image shows the top of the building (completed shell). The special perspective and light from the trees illuminated from below gives a surreal image impression.
