Caligraphy on ice

This picture was taken during the Harbin Ice Festival, in Zhaolin Park. Sculptures are lit by the Sun during the day but hopefully don’t melt! This one struck me as the Chinese characters are engraved in the ice: hard work which requires precision and patience. It can be seen as a metaphore of what learning Chinese is like!

  1. Wow! I just did a very brief course on Chinese characters, and writing them with a pen was difficult enough.

A striking picture with lovely contrasts.
