This is a picture of a theme park outside Pingyao, taken whilst standing on top of the old city wall. During the last decade, there was a real theme park boom in China. It reflects the greater amount of leisure time that Chinese middle class families can spend these days. According to statistics of IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) theme park visitor turnout in China will outpace the US market by 2020. Back in history, amusement parks evolved from European fairs and pleasure gardens, which were created for people’s recreation.
